Short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your information, and you can leave any time.
Who we are
Nextstepnext is run by Russ Johns in Texas, USA. The legal business name is Russ Johns, DBA Nextstepnext.com
When this policy says "we," "us," or "I," it means Nextstepnext and Russ.
This one policy covers nextstepnext.com, russjohns.com, bookruss.com, iguideyourbrand.com, and every YourBrand Network site, including EmailYourBrand, InstaYourBrand, PodcastYourBrand, LinkedYourBrand, TubeYourBrand, XYourBrand, LivestreamYourBrand, PublishYourBrand, NewsletterYourBrand, TextYourBrand, FunnelYourBrand, AIYourBrand, and any other site that links to this page. We call them "the sites."

What we collect
What you give us.
- Your name and email address when you join Nextstep Notes, take a quiz and ask for your result, fill in a form, or write to us.
- Your quiz answers, but only if you choose to send your result (see "The quizzes" below).
- Booking details when you schedule a call: name, email, the time you pick, and anything you type in the booking form.
- Purchase details when you buy something: name, email, billing address, and what you bought. Card numbers go straight to the payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
- Anything you post in the Nextstep Crew community, or send us in a reply.
What your browser sends automatically.
- Technical data any website receives: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, the page you came from, and the date and time.
- Link details in the web address, such as UTM tags (for example, "came from EmailYourBrand"). Quiz result links can also carry your result tier, the area to fix first, and your score.
- Cookie data, explained below.
The quizzes
Our quizzes (like the Inbox Health Score) run in your browser. Your answers and score show up on the page, and we don't store them.
If you click "Send my result to my inbox," your result tier, the area to fix first, and your score go along in the link to our newsletter signup page. When you subscribe, they're saved with your email so the welcome emails can match your result. If you don't click, nothing from the quiz reaches us.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter, welcome emails, and anything else you asked for.
- To deliver what you bought, and handle receipts, refunds, and support.
- To run bookings and send reminders.
- To answer you when you write.
- To see which pages and spokes help people, so we can make them better.
- To keep the sites secure and follow the law.
Who helps us run things
We use a few service providers. Each one does a specific job for us and gets only what that job needs.
- Systeme.io: hosts our landing pages, forms, checkouts, and some email.
- beehiiv: sends Nextstep Notes and hosts the Nextstep Crew community.
- Payment processors connected through Systeme.io (such as Stripe or PayPal): take and process payments.
- Calendly and Google (Calendar, Meet, Workspace): bookings, video calls, and our email.
- Google Analytics and the built-in stats in Systeme.io and beehiiv: visit counts and traffic sources.
- Website hosting and security (such as our WordPress host and Cloudflare): keep the sites online and protected.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of selling or transferring the business. If that happens, this policy keeps applying to your information.
We don't sell your information
We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. Not now, not later.
Email, and how to stop it
We only email people who signed up, bought something, booked a call, or wrote to us first.
Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and we honor it right away, and always within 10 business days. Our emails show who they're from and our postal address, as the CAN-SPAM Act requires. If you unsubscribe, you may still get receipts or replies about something you bought or booked.
The Nextstep Crew community
Posts in the community are visible to other members. Please don't share anything private there. You can ask us to remove something you posted.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use them to keep pages and checkouts working, remember choices, and count visits. Our analytics tools use cookies to show us traffic in aggregate.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most of the sites will still work. To opt out of Google Analytics, use Google's opt-out browser add-on. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we'll treat it as a request to opt out of anything that could count as a sale or targeted advertising (which we don't do anyway).
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep purchase records as long as tax and accounting rules require. Everything else we keep only as long as we need it for the reasons above.
How we protect it
We use reputable providers, secure (HTTPS) connections, and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe any time from the link in any email.
- Ask what we have about you, and we'll tell you.
- Ask us to fix or delete it, and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Ask us to stop using it for something.
Email russ@nextstepnext.com. We may need to confirm it's you. We answer within 45 days, and usually much sooner. Depending on where you live (for example Texas, California, or the EU and UK), you may have more rights, and we'll honor them. We won't treat you differently for using any of them.
Children
The sites are for adults. They aren't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Visitors outside the US
We're based in the United States, and our providers store information in the US. If you use the sites from another country, your information will be handled in the US.
Links to other sites
The sites link to other websites and tools, including affiliate links. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is big, we'll tell subscribers by email.
