By using the sites, you agree to these terms. They're short on purpose and written in plain language.
Who we are and what this covers
Nextstepnext is run by Russ Johns in Texas, USA. The legal business name is Russ Johns DBA Nextstepnext. "We," "us," and "I" mean Nextstepnext and Russ. "You" means you.
These terms cover nextstepnext.com, russjohns.com, bookruss.com, iguideyourbrand.com, and every YourBrand Network site, including EmailYourBrand, InstaYourBrand, PodcastYourBrand, LinkedYourBrand, TubeYourBrand, XYourBrand, LivestreamYourBrand, PublishYourBrand, NewsletterYourBrand, TextYourBrand, FunnelYourBrand, AIYourBrand, and any other site that links to this page ("the sites"), plus the newsletter, quizzes, community, bookings, and anything you buy from us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
What the sites are
We publish writing, quizzes, tools, a weekly newsletter (Nextstep Notes), a community (the Nextstep Crew), and coaching and guides about building a brand and doing the work. All of it is information and education.
None of it is legal, financial, tax, or medical advice. If you need that kind of advice, talk to a qualified professional.
Results aren't guaranteed
We share what has worked for us and for others. Your results depend on you, your market, your effort, and plenty of things nobody controls. We don't promise any specific number of subscribers, opens, leads, sales, or income. Examples and stories are just that, examples, and not a promise of what you'll get.
Quizzes and tools
Quiz scores and suggested moves come from your own answers. They're a starting point, not a diagnosis or a prediction. Use your judgment.
Newsletter and community
Nextstep Notes and the Nextstep Crew are free. You can leave any time.
In the community, the house rules apply: be kind, no spam or pitching, no harassment, and nothing illegal or anyone else's private information. When you ask for help, help one other person too. We can remove posts or members who break these rules.
Buying from us
- Checkout: purchases go through Systeme.io checkout pages. Payments are processed by third party processors such as Stripe or PayPal. Prices, what's included, and any billing schedule are shown at checkout.
- Subscriptions: if you buy something that renews, it renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time, and you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds: Email us, and we'll make it right.
- Your license: digital products and programs are for your own use. Please don't share logins, resell, or republish them.
- Taxes: prices may not include taxes, which are added where the law requires.
Booking a call
Calls are booked through Calendly or Google Calendar. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please give at least 24 hours' notice when you can. Paid sessions follow the refund terms above. Calls aren't recorded unless we both agree first.

Some links on the sites are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend tools we actually use or believe in.
AI-assisted content
We use AI tools to help with research and drafts. A human (Russ) reviews and approves what we publish. Even so, mistakes happen. Check important facts before you act on them.
What we own
The writing, quizzes, templates, images, logos, and names on the sites (including Nextstepnext, Nextstep Notes, and the YourBrand Network names) belong to us unless stated otherwise.
You're welcome to read, share links, and quote a reasonable amount with credit. Please don't republish whole pieces, copy our quizzes or templates as your own, or resell our material.
What you own
Anything you send or post (replies, comments, quiz answers, community posts) stays yours. By sending it, you give us permission to show it in the community and to quote it, sometimes anonymously, when it might help other readers. If you'd rather we didn't, tell us and we won't. Testimonials are only used with your permission.
Fair use of the sites
Please don't try to break, overload, hack, or scrape the sites, get around a paywall or login, or use them to send spam or break the law.
Other sites and services
We link to and rely on outside services (like Systeme.io, beehiiv, Calendly, and Google). We don't control them and aren't responsible for them. Their own terms apply when you use them.
No warranty
The sites and everything on them are provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep things accurate and online, but we can't promise they'll always be error free or uninterrupted.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data, from your use of the sites. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
If something goes wrong
If you misuse the sites or break these terms and it causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.
If you have a problem, email russ@nextstepnext.com first. Most things get sorted out with one honest conversation.
Texas law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, regardless of conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in Galveston County, Texas, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
Ending access, and changes
We can suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms. We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top, and continuing to use the sites means you accept the update. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
