THE SNAP
I've been launched off more ladders than most people climb.
In 1987 I fell three stories from a billboard.
I was chasing a rockstar dream, and I shattered it with my bones.
That was the first ladder.
I rebuilt.
I climbed the corporate one for fifteen years: safety, IT, communications, until a merger launched me off that one too.
The career, the farm, the family.
Gone.
Everything I owned fit in three bags.
I don't tell you that for sympathy.
I tell you because I know what it is to stand in the rubble of a plan and have no idea what comes next.
What pulled me back wasn't a five-year strategy.
It was one stubborn question, asked every single morning.
What's the nextstep? Next.
Not the whole staircase.
The next step.
That question became a mission: help more people help more people.
Then a stroke took my voice for a while, and taught me the last lesson I needed.
Build systems that carry the help, so it keeps flowing even on the days you have to rest.
That is what this whole network is.
A way to hand you one honest next step, every week, whether I'm at full strength or not.
I'm not going to hand you twenty-two things to do.
I'm going to hand you one…
Why do I tell it in four beats
Every hard chapter of my life had the same shape.
A place I was standing.
A wall I hit.
A moment it turned.
A step forward.
I didn't invent that shape.
I just lived it enough times to name it, and it became the Nextstep Method.
If you want the tool I use to find the next step in any mess, that's the next page.
